RISING SINGER/RAPPER T. SHAN FINDS INTIMACY IN PAIN ON POP BALLAD “BDSM”

T. Shan is a rapper and singer based out of NYC, but his roots stretch far beyond. Raised between the Far East, and the East and West Coasts, he weaves his multitude of experiences into his music, which blends assertive Hip-Hop with moody R&B, underpinned by reflective yet biting lyrics. T. Shan’s music presents a setting – a place and time – that takes the listener into a moment in the life of the artist. His work reflects the braggadocious highs and melancholic lows of urban life, yet never loses sight of where he and his family came from.

Returning from the release of his visual for “Ghost,” which drew praise from A&R Factory and Hip Hop Headquarters, the versatile singer/rapper T. Shan taps into a new bedroom-pop-influenced sound on his single “BDSM.”  The lyrics explore a toxic relationship in which, like in BDSM, the lovers hurt and restrain each other, consenting to the emotional torment as they come back together each time.

“BDSM” contrasts its dreamy, bright instrumentation with yearning, resigned lyrics.  Deceivingly sweet, lush harmonies in the chorus depict a dark tale of two people caught in a vortex of their own making: “When I’m down / When I’m broke / Have the rest of me.”

T. Shan collaborated with Grammy-nominated (Childish Gambino’s “This is America”) audio engineer Dacota G to give life to the track.  “BDSM” is the first track released off of the upcoming EP “Spectrums”, out later this year.
