New York rap supergroup Beast Coast has finally announced the release of their debut project. The album titled “Escape from New York” will be releasing on May 24th via Columbia Records.
Beast Coast features members of Pro Era (Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, CJ Fly, and Powers Pleasant), the Underachievers (AKTHESAVIOR and Issa Gold) and Flatbush Zombies (Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott).
The collective has loosely collaborated since their emergence from New York’s underground scene back in 2012 but lately they’ve been on the offensive sharing two new tracks Left Hand and Coast Clear, visiting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and finally releasing (or one could say, reviving) a cypher on the legendary “Rap City”, titled Basement Cypher hosted by WVEE’s Big Tigger. The collective used the cypher to show off their skills rapping over a variety of instrumentals ranging from hip-hop classics such as Cam’Ron’s “Get Em’ Daddy (Remix)”, Mobb Deep’s “Hell On Earth” and Clipse’s “Grindin” to dancehall on Sean Paul’s “Gimme Da Light”.
“Escape from New York” will be releasing right before Beast Coast kicks off their summer tour named after the album. The tour will begin on July 23rd in Seattle, continue through majority of large North American cities including
Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, Charlotte, Eugene, Mountain View, Irvine, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Atlanta, Houston, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and end on August 25th in Baltimore.
If you’re a fan of Beast Coast you should also check out the latest track from one of their members’, CJ Fly. The song titled “Bird” is the lead single from his yet to be titled (and announced) solo album, hopefully releasing not too long after “Escape from New York”.
